Mid-Century Teak Tables

I found two of these gems at a thrift shop a while ago.

Pure.
Midcentury.
Gold.

I'm pretty sure James Bond set his Martini atop these retro beauties
before I was lucky enough to get my paws on them..

They are really solid, extremely well-built, Sklar Peppler tables.
One helluva score!

I wanted to really soak up that sleek, retro-ness of these mid-century pieces.
So I added to that by doing..

This!

I added a hand-painted triangle pattern and it fit the MCM vibe to a T! The muted shades work so well with the colour of the teak.

They turned out even better than what I had envisioned in my head.
Gotta love when a plan comes together!

Not a bad transformation at all!

Thanks again for stopping by, Peeps!

Until next time!

As we always say, we truly do have the most amazing clients.

Though we love getting to be creative every day, it's you guys that really inspire us with your vision and project ideas.
You challenge us and keep us on our toes, which is awesome because it keeps us current with different techniques and styles!

A really awesome returning customer recently moved and asked if we would do some industrial stools for her new place. I was so excited and jumped at the chance to work on this as her style is basically identical to my own.
This makes it extra fun!

She explained that she had ordered six industrial stools and wanted them each in a different colour.
This is such a modern way to add some "pop" and cheeriness to your decor and has been in every decorating magazine for a few months now. I absolutely LOVE this idea.

Here are the stools she sent me:

She chose the most gorgeous, cheery, saturated hues!

They were tricky to "airbrush", but turned out really well!

I'm so in love with these stools!
I want to redo our own home decor just to make colourful stools work!

We can't wait to see pictures of these in her new home!!!!

Inspiration

It's Inspiration Day!!!!

We are absolutely loving on triangles right now.

It's the strangest thing..
The triangle has been around forever, and for some reason it's suddenly appearing on everything in decor magazines and furniture stores!

I think they add the perfect "unexpected" and whimsical touch to furniture!

We are so eager to jump on the triangle bandwagon and see what we can muster up in the shop!
Ideas are flowing....

ohhh..
* a vintage dresser with a hit of triangles splashed over it's drawers..
* a crisp white piece with little triangles dancing across the surface of the top..
*a desk with drawers lined in adorable triangle print paper..
..ahhhh

So, keep your eyes peeled, folks..
There may just be a gorgeous piece inspired by this little collage!

'Til next time, peeps.

Dad's Dresser

Today we have an extra special reveal for you guys!

This one was done by another family member..our dad/husband!
(Yep, we like to get the whole family involved!)

Do you guys remember this old dresser?

Not very pretty.

He took this stenciled mess of a dresser and transformed it into this:

Deeeeelightful!

Yep..the grain on this baby really shines through and the warm tone ties in well with the dark walnut stain. He found these handles and it is honestly one of the only times I can say that they look so much better than the originals! Good job, Pa!

(I guess good taste runs in the family..ha!)

Lined drawers always add so much more finesse to a piece!

A pretty awesome transformation by the old man.
It'll be up in the shop right away.

As usual, contact us if interested!

Happy Friday, Peeps!

Alice {French Provincial Side Table}

Hump Day is Over!!!

We have a new transformation to share with you!

So this was a great find! This little  french provincial table is just full of personality! The legs are fantastic and the lovely shape along the sides is gorgeous!

I knew we could make her really special!

I reeeally like Annie Sloane's blue/green shade called "Provence". Fancy, I know!

I know I should probably do more furniture in nuetrals, I just feel that some pieces deserve to be colourful, fun and pack a little punch! Makes me happy!

So I coordinated it with Annie Sloane's "Cream" and boy, did she turn out pretty!

Meet Alice.

Right when she was done I immediately thought of "Alice in Wonderland". It's such a happy, whimsical piece. Naturally, we had to stage her with a pretty tea set!

Her pretty details add so much character.

Would you just look at those curves?!

Keep an eye out for this table in the shop!

Have a great evening, Folks!

this is no "Mellow Yellow"

I got the opportunity to work  with a really fun shade of yellow recently!
It is such a big thing for us to be able to work with fun colours once in a while! Brave customers are a breath of fresh air!

She saw a little vintage bench that we had in "Blank Canvases" and wanted it to use as a coffee table! As a mother of two little ones, it will work wonderfully for storage and all those things mamas like to keep tidy (or at least concealed once in a while)!

This piece is cedar - which is a soft wood, so like most old pieces, it had a few dings and scuffs from it's past life; These really only added to it's vintage charm and I sure didn't want to sand him down to nothing...

I replaced the ugly old hardware and updated him with some crisp, black knobs and hinges. The contrast looks amazing with the fresh shade of yellow!

I hope she is pleased with her bright and cheery "new" vintage coffee table! It's hard not to feel happy with this guy's "sunny" disposition! Ok, ok..I'm done..

Hope your week is off to a great start, peeps.

Mr. Mustard

So remember what I said about the last stripe post possibly leading to a new post on a striped creation?

Well.....

Here's the newest member of Sparrow Layne!! He's a handsome fella and would be the cutest addition to any space.

I used Annie Sloan's Chalkpaint in "Arles" and the stripes were done in "French Linen" and "Old White". Can I just say, this colour combination of this guy is dee-vine!

I used the coolest vintage postage stamp stencil to give him a little bling and it turned out so well!

So there yah have it, folks!

Until next time. Have a fantastic Tuesday!

miss magenta

So I'm sure you all figured that yesterday's colour inspiration had to be leading up to something, right?

Remember this ol' gal?

It was clear she needed some work done.

So...

I used the colour inspiration pick of the week on her...magenta!!!

and she turned out like this...

Bam! She's just so darn pretty with her gold detailing and hardware!

I love this accent table!

She will be up for grabs in the shop soon!

Color of the Year!

So, peeps, anyone checked out the forecasted colors of the year for 2015?

I look at way too many furniture and home decor pictures. Like, way too many. I start looking and I can't stop. I get excited way too easily and ideas start flying through my brain at warp speed.

Just for some fun, I've perused some furniture in the new "it" colors for 2015 and am dying to know what you all think. So! I've left a little poll for you to participate in. I love feedback, and always love to know what color clients are going for these days!

Over on the right side of the page there will be a place where you can let me know whatcha think!
So, do a gal a solid and vote, k?

Have a great weekend, folks!
