A Little Compromise

So ladies, don't get me wrong..
You will totally find me z-snappin' and hollering "amen, sista!" when a fellow gal is venting about her husband's lack of taste in decor or at least one that doesn't exactly match her own (same thing), but I have to say, I am really feelin' masculine elements in decor lately.
Mixed with fresher, more delicate pieces..?
Deeeevine.

Could this mean it may be possible for elements and ideas from both genders to mesh together and result in a beautifully balanced, harmonious home?
Probably not..
unless you're married to Nate Berkus..
(but then we would be lacking in other departments, if yah know what I mean, girls..)

The truth is, your husband probably won't mind being included (while not reeeally being included) in the whole "decorating debacle" anyway..but you can add things that will be to both of your liking. If we could get through a "home decor pow-wow" together without anyone losing an eye or tongue, we could probably do some pretty cool things together...
(I swear I typed all that with a straight face..)

So! If the ideas haven't already been swirling around in your brilliant little mind, I'll tease you with some pretty pictures to get your creative juices flowing.

See that smug little fella in the corner there?
Ya..he's pretty pleased with his contribution.

Adding those masculine elements can be as simple and subtle as adding a chrome reading lamp (like the one above),  pleather or faux fur throw pillows, or even switching out your Chanel coffee table book to Holmes on Homes...haha, I kid, I kid..(tap the brakes, taaap the brakes). You can also go bigger with chunky wooden tables, industrial bar stools or metal ceiling lights.

Here are some examples of some beautifully decorated rooms below.
Walls are neutral so they don't compete and the eclectic mix of feminine and masculine works so well.

Woods, metals, patterns and textures make such an impact that walls don't need to be "dressed up" in any bold colors and that's a huge bonus.
Try agreeing on paint colors with your partner, I dare you.
It will send you to a whole other dimension of hell..
Seriously.

I've blabbed on enough for today and now have scary specific plans for my living room..

Here's to a successful decor pow wow in my near future!
(I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...)

Hope you're all having a fantastic week!
