Vintage Desk

Happy Tuesday!

Well, here we are, a little closer to Friday..

We are sooo excited to share our newest creation with you today!

We have a very sweet neighbor who knew that we refinished furniture. She called over one day and said that she had to pieces that we could have if we were interested. Little did we know, these pieces were incredible, choc-full of the potential to be beautiful!

We are not about to ruin the surprise of what the other piece is BUT this is how the first one went:

He's so old. He came over a long time ago from Quebec!
(We love the little key hole on the drawer face!)

He needed some repair work but nothing too complicated.
He is now solid, sturdy and very handsome!

It took some extreme elbow grease to take the inch and a half of varnish off this dude.
I'm talking like...2 hours spent just on the top! Whew!

Needless to say, the intense prep work was sooo worth it!
This happens, like...never, but what happened when stain was added was incredible!!!

The grain came to life!
We have never seen a grain pattern so varied and beautiful!
It's beauty was hidden under layer upon layer of orange-tinged varnish..

We posted this picture to Instagram and within minutes, it was loaded with comments!
I guess, other people couldn't believe it either!

We found the most unique knobs that we just had to have for this guy:

Super cute!

Anyway, check this fella out..

Ahhhhhh, we want to keep this one sooo bad.

He's painted in Annie Sloan's "Old Ocre". Trim around drawer is "French Linen", a pretty grey.
He was distressed to keep his vintage-ness.

Inside the drawer is painted black and lined with gorgeous vintage paper!

Ta-Da!

There yah have it!
Another successful transformation!
Email or call to get your hands on this while we are still willing to let go!
