Shop Tour!

Well, we've come full circle again and have landed on another Monday..
Can I get a "Boooo"?

We've been more slack around the shop lately. To be honest, with the summer heat it gets a little stuffy in the garage...and other excuses like that.

Yes, for those of you who don't know, our "shop" is a plain ol' garage stacked nearly to the rafters with unfinished, partially finished and fully completed pieces ready to be adopted into new homes. Apologies if you had one of those pimped out/Martha Stewart looking workshops that are floating around on Pinterest in your mind...
too pretty..not our thang...

We realized the other day that what goes on "behind the scenes" is probably a total mystery to you guys, so today we'll do a little "virtual tour" around our workspace..
It's nothing luxurious, let me tell yah, but when you constantly have sanders kickin' full blast, and paint flyin', we think it's the perfect place to fire up our creativity!

So let's go!

One of our supply cabinets (can you tell we are Annie Sloan fans?)
Annie herself actually commented on this photo and what a "well stocked" cupboard we had.
Still have to convince her to sponsor us though..

This is where we attempt to keep ourselves on track with custom requests, weekly tasks and reminders.
We also like to post things like yearly top colours, paint swatches by company, different stains, painting techniques, when to take our next ice cream break...

joking...
kind of...

We even paint chalkboard labels on everything to keep our supplies organized..
(if only my house was this organized...one of ours is..)

Gotta keep a sense of humor, right?
....dad?

Always a new creation in progress.

Cleanup. Again, one of us is better at this than the other, but why name names..?

My dad (the little fella in the ball cap has helped us on countless projects with the really tough stuff. Adding brand new bases to china cabinets, restructuring ancient drawers so they slide again and fixing warped doors from old cabinets are just a few of the fixes he's done for us. Without this guy, we would be in trouble and many pieces wouldn't have been "saved".

Ryan, my fiance (gahhhd, that's an awkward word...so is saying "awkward word"...say it 3 times fast..), anywho, he helps sometimes but usually prefers to cheer us on from a distance! We do tend to get ourselves into some pretty mind-boggling predicaments..

So, in case you're still with us through that, there's a little peek into what goes on behind the scenes at Sparrow Layne!

Catch yah on the flip-side, Peeps!
